We wanted to update everyone on the status of Flywheel Ultimate’s 2019-2020 season. As many of you know because of COVID-19 the University of Michigan, along with other colleges and universities around the country, have moved classes online to minimize the spread of the virus. Frisbee practices have been canceled until April 21 along with all travel and tournaments, so Flywheel will not have anymore tournaments scheduled until further notice.
Our team is very sad about the turn of events but we understand that the health of our players, the frisbee community, and the general public are important and come first. We are doing everything we can to stay safe and healthy.
We want to give a special shoutout to our seniors and fifth year players. We love you all and thank you so much for being our teammates, friends, and family. This isn’t the end nor is it goodbye. We love you all, you’ll always be a part of the flyfam.
Thank you everyone who has sent their support and words of encouragement. It is appreciated immensely. While we are all deeply saddened with the turn of events we still have hope in the future and faith in the bonds we have made as a team throughout the 2019-2020 season.
We will try to keep everyone updated on what is happening as quickly as possible. Thank you all!
We are the University of Michigan Women's Ultimate Frisbee team. Recognized by the university as a club sport, we travel across the country to compete against other high-level programs. We currently have two teams, Flywheel A and B-Fly. Flywheel is made up of many different members, from freshmen who picked up their first disc at tryouts to grad students who have been playing for years. For six of the past seven years, we have qualified for Nationals, most recently placing 2nd in 2011, 3rd in 2012, and 5th in 2014. B-Fly is a strong program to help players learn about the sport and build up their skills. B-Fly is a strong B team that participates in multiple tournaments throughout the Midwest. Both teams create a space for individuals to learn about ultimate while also meeting other strong women athletes who share the love for the sport.
